Today Adobe (Nasdaq:ADBE) announced it has appointed Dana Rao as
executive vice president and General Counsel, effective immediately. Rao
will succeed Mike Dillon, who announced
his intent to retire earlier this year. Rao will report to Adobe
president and CEO Shantanu Narayen and will oversee all of Adobe’s legal
and government relations matters.
Currently Adobe’s vice president and associate general counsel of
intellectual property and litigation, Rao has more than 20 years of
legal experience. During his six-year tenure at Adobe overseeing Adobe’s
intellectual property and litigation teams, Rao has managed the
company’s litigation efforts as well as its patent, trademark and
copyright portfolio strategies. Prior to Adobe, Rao was with Microsoft
for 11 years, serving in a variety of roles including Associate General
Counsel of Intellectual Property and Licensing, where he oversaw all
patent matters for Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division. Rao
started his career as a patent attorney at Fenwick & West. He holds a
B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Villanova University and a J.D. from
George Washington University, where he graduated Order of the Coif.
